I recently bought a trunk full of antique doll hats and clothes and this hat was in the box. The items were all circa 1910 to 1940, mostly Victorian and pre 1930.
This hat is stamped inside by maker and here is a bit of history on the maker, Merrimac Corp. the hat most likely dating between 1900 to 1940.
In 1838 Issac Martin began the manufacture of hats in a small facility on his farm in
Amesbury, Massachusetts
. In 1860 he entered into a partnership with Abner L. Bailey and a small mill was constructed near Bailey's Pond in Amesbury, which was dammed to allow water for its boilers and wet finishing process. From 1860 to 1866 the company was known as Amesbury Hat and Horton Hat, but from 1866 the name Merrimac Hat Company became permanent.
At the height of its success in the 1940s, the company was the largest manufacturer of trimmed hats and hat bodies in the country.
The company struggled for a few decades before closing for good in 1970.
It is rare to find an antique doll in a boy's costume but when you do, often a HAT is the one thing you can't find easily.
This is a cute little hat and perfect for an antique or modern Boy doll.
I vacuumed and lint rolled the hat, and I show it modeled on a friend's repro KR boy doll for reference. (Doll not for sale this is only the HAT listed for sale). His head with wig on is around 13" Circumference and it's a perfect fit. This hat can be embellished nicely with a ribbon band and feathers reminiscent of a Tyrolean hat. Or styled for another ethnic look or even western look.  I can see it looking terrific on any antique Boy doll, and especially a SCHOENHUT wood boy doll.
Approx 4" high, 4 1/2" opening, 13 3/4" circumference on outside of crown base. The doll has a 13" head with wig on. Perfect fit!
See all photos, no issues other than a bit of dust from age and storage. No odors.

All items have been cleaned as best as possible and ship from my smoke free home. I'll give this another lint roller session before shipping.
